VISUAL ACUITY: Vision OD is 20/30, OS is 2/200. IOP: OD 16, OS 19. The right eye has 1+ nuclear sclerosis. The left eye posterior chamber intraocular lens is in good position.
EXTENDED OPHTHALMOSCOPY:
OD: Vertical C/D ratio is 0.2. There is patchy scarring nasal to the fovea, as well as angioid streaks superior and inferior to the macula. There is no intraretinal or subretinal fluid. The left eye is undilated.
OCT SCAN: The right eye shows the macula to be dry. The left macula is dry also with a central scar.
IMPRESSION:
1. AGE-RELATED MACULAR DEGENERATION – BOTH EYES
2. ANGIOID STREAKS – BOTH EYES
3. INVOLUTED SUBRETINAL CHOROIDAL NEOVASCULAR MEMBRANE – RIGHT EYE
4. MACULAR SCAR – LEFT EYE
DISCUSSION: I explained to the patient the macula in the right eye looks lovely. I injected the eye with Avastin (1.25 mg/0.05 ml) without any difficulty.
I asked her to return again in three months, sooner should she notice a problem.
