84-year-old woman has wet age-related macular degeneration in the left eye and dry macular degeneration in the right eye. She takes the eye vitamins and her vision is stable since she was treated three months ago with Avastin.
VISUAL ACUITY: OD 20/50, OS 20/32. IOP: OD 8, OS 9. The posterior chamber intraocular lens is in good position in both eyes.
EXTENDED OPHTHALMOSCOPY:
OD: Vertical C/D ratio is 0.2. There is reticular pseudo drusen.
OS: Vertical C/D ratio is 0.2. There is patchy atrophy and reticular pseudo drusen.
SPECTRALIS-SD-OCT SCAN: The OCT scan shows both maculae to be dry. The left eye does have a foveal pigment epithelial detachment. The infra red images confirm the reticular pseudo drusen in the macula.
IMPRESSION:
1. WET AGE-RELATED MACULAR DEGENERATION – LEFT EYE
2. INVOLUTED SUBFOVEAL CHOROIDAL NEOVASCULAR MEMBRANE – LEFT EYE
3. RETICULAR MACULAR DISEASE – BOTH EYES
4. DRY MACULAR DEGENERATION – RIGHT EYE
DISCUSSION: I explained to the patient the maculae are both dry. It has been three months since her last treatment. This is the best we have done extending the treatment interval. I am hopeful it will be able to stay at three months for a little while.

84-year-old woman has wet age-related macular degeneration in the left eye and dry macular degeneration in the right eye. She takes the eye vitamins and her vision is stable since she was treated three months ago with Avastin.
