Sectoral Heterochromia Iridum

3-year-old child was seen in the office on September 14, 2011. Since he was an infant a white spot was noticed on the iris in the right eye, it seems to be growing and he comes in because of that. He is a little tricky to check vision on, but he has good fix and follow in either eye.
SLIT EXAMINATION: The slit lamp shows clear corneas and clear lenses. The right eye does have an iris area that is kind of whitish and depigmented. The muscles in that area are completely normal. It looks to be amelanotic iris nevus. The lenses are clear.
EXTENDED OPHTHALMOSCOPY:
OD: Vertical C/D ratio is 0.2. The macula looks healthy.
OS: Vertical C/D ratio is 0.2. The macula looks healthy.
IMPRESSION:
Sectoral Heterochromia Iridum
DISCUSSION: I explained to the father it looks like the lesion in the right eye is an iris nevus. It is possible for these to grow, but it is extremely unusual for them to convert into something more sinister.
