52 year old 5' 0" Taiwanese female on plaquenil for 24 years for SLE and rheumatoid arthritis now with vision loss for one year. She has no family history of retinal dystrophy. She denies nyctalopia. VA 20/50 OU. Testing shows diffuse outer retina loss. The patient went on to gradually lose central vision.
The vision in both eyes deteriorated after plaquenil was stopped. The left eye saw 2/200 within 1 year and then stabilized.
